A Return to Roots: A Spring Dinner at the Historic Westfield Train StatioN
There’s something about coming home that feels like flipping through an old photo album — familiar, comforting, and quietly joyful. I grew up in a small town in Western New York, the kind of place that feels suspended in time in the best way. The historic buildings, the familiar faces, the charm of downtown — it all brings back a rush of childhood memories. And now, having recently moved back with my husband, I’ve found myself rediscovering this little piece of paradise with new eyes.
I’m Kristin, founder of Pastoral Co., a Western New York–based event florist and rentals company. At Pastoral Co., we believe every event tells a story rooted in nature and place. We specialize in seasonal floral design and curated event rentals that bring thoughtful beauty and intention to every gathering. It’s not just about flowers — it’s about crafting moments that feel genuine and timeless.
A few weeks ago, I had the honor of designing florals and tablescapes for a very special spring dinner, held at the historic Westfield Train Station in partnership with Johnson Estate Winery. The setting was nothing short of magic — a beautifully restored piece of our region’s history, full of warmth and character.
The featured wine of the evening was their seasonal May Wine, delicately infused with Sweet Woodruff and strawberries. That unique blend inspired the table design — garden-style flowers paired with potted Sweet Woodruff plants, plates piled high with fresh strawberries, and soft, romantic details that reflected the setting. Each table felt like a celebration of the season and the sense of community — fresh, playful, and full of life.
Even more special, I got to attend as a guest. It was one of those rare evenings where every detail felt just right: good wine, good food, and even better conversation with new friends. It reminded me why I love doing what I do — creating beauty that brings people together, especially in spaces that already hold so much story and soul.
If you’re planning a small gathering, the Westfield Train Station is available to rent — and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s such a unique, beautiful venue that brings timeless charm to any event. And if you ever get the chance, Johnson Estate Winery’s Winemaker’s Dinners are an absolute must-experience. They host these intimate, seasonal dinners throughout the year, and each one offers a chance to slow down and truly savor the best of Western New York.
This event was a perfect example of what I hope to keep creating here at Pastoral Co. — thoughtful, seasonal experiences rooted in place and filled with heart. I’m so grateful to Johnson Estate Winery for the collaboration and to everyone who joined us at the table.
Here’s to more moments like this — steeped in nostalgia, gathered with intention, and full of beauty.
